Mission Statement
Ice People is a not for profit Community organization whose members work as volunteers. Their goal is to better the community festivals and enhance the beauty of the Township of Smith-Ennismore-Lakefield. Although the group raises funds to grow and improve their events, all the extra funds are returned to local charities.
PolarFest 2012
January 27th to February 5th, 2012
The Ice People of the Bridgenorth-Ennismore-Lakefield area remove ice from Chemong Lake to carve beautiful ice sculptures that are placed throughout the region. They also carve man-made ice which is paid for by the generosity of businesses in our township.
We are a division of the PolarFest Winter Carnival which promotes winter fun and involvement in our township, and attracts tourists to our wonderful area.
The closing of our Winter Carnival is the Polar Plunge, where participants find sponsors for their plunge into the frigid waters of Chemong Lake.
Environmental Statement
All our ice removing activities are conducted with great care and concern for the lake environment. We use vegetable oil in our chain saws, and food colouring for the markings for our paint can curling.
